One Horton Heath

One Horton Heath is a new development set within the semi-rural parish of Fair Oak and Horton Heath. The site is 310 acres, and the plans are for 2500 new homes, a new primary school, commercial premises, as well as sports and leisure facilities.

As landowner and developer, Eastleigh Borough Council claim they will be "delivering a different approach to development, focusing on community, innovation and sustainability" and that they will "bring together the best skills and innovation, creating jobs and opportunities for the local economy".

However there are concerns over spiralling costs, lack of independent oversight, and infrastructure strain. with local MPs and residents challenging the council's role as both developer and planning authority. The development is accused of destroying the rural character, with specific fears that building is on land known locally as "The Horton Bog" and will lead to increased flooding for existing and new residents,
